Learning Spanish while cooking

Gastronomy is an important part of Spanish culture.

A foreign language is best learned using all your senses: hearing, seeing feeling, smelling and tasting.

During Español Universal’s cooking workshops, we will prepare various Spanish specialties while learning many Spanish words and phrases. All with Español Universal’s secret ingredient: lots of humor

Tapas and Pinchos Making Workshop

Español Universal hosts a unique Tapas and Pinchos making workshop. For 3 hours, Débora will take you into the kitchen to prepare different tapas and pinchos together. In between cooking, you’ll learn new Spanish words and phrases from this versatile Spanish teacher. And all of this is garnished with stories about the dishes and ingredients.

Upon entering, you will be welcomed with a glass of wine, beer or soda and after a brief introduction, we will quickly get down to business. At the end of the program, we will eat all the goodies together over another drink.

Afterwards, you will be given the recipes and language lessons to take home.

Débora López Rodríguez is founder of the Haarlem language school Español Universal and has been teaching Spanish to Dutch people for more than 25 years. The Madrid native has lived in several regions of Spain and therefore knows better than anyone else how to paint a complete picture of Spanish culture and gastronomy.
