This Spanish language trip by Español Universal takes you to the Basque Country: two cities, two characters, one unforgettable experience. Bilbao and San Sebastián together form the perfect combination of modern culture, tradition, nature, and language. And although they are only an hour apart, they are cities with completely different faces, a contrast that makes this language trip extra special.

During this trip, we stay in Bilbao, a tough, contemporary city with an industrial past and a vibrant art and culture scene. The world-famous Guggenheim Museum, the historic Casco Viejo district, and the lively atmosphere along the river give the city an energetic and innovative character. Here you learn Spanish in the midst of city life, among the hospitable inhabitants of Bilbao.

On two days, we travel by comfortable bus to San Sebastián, the elegant and refined seaside city. This city exudes tranquility, nature, and class, with the iconic La Concha Bay, stately buildings, and a gastronomic tradition that is among the best in Spain. We also visit the top of Monte Igueldo, where you are treated to a breathtaking view over the bay of San Sebastián, a moment not to be forgotten quickly. Here you learn Spanish in a relaxed way, on the beach, in the old town full of pintxos bars, and in contact with the warm inhabitants of “La Perla del Cantábrico”.

What does this language trip to Spain include?

This intensive Spanish language course in Bilbao and San Sebastián consists of 20 hours spread over 5 days, with a morning program (09:30 – 13:30) and an evening program (18:00 – 20:00).

The course consists of a morning program with cultural, practical, and interactive activities, and an evening program focusing on grammar and speaking skills. The lessons are taught by Débora López Rodríguez, her personal and motivating approach ensures that you learn and grow with pleasure.

The morning program forms the core of the experience-oriented approach of this language trip. You follow Spanish lessons on the street, in museums, in squares or markets, always in the midst of city life. In Bilbao, we discover places such as the Guggenheim Museum or the old town Casco Viejo, where you practice Spanish through practical assignments, observation, and interaction with locals. During the excursions to San Sebastián, we walk through the atmospheric old town, along the iconic La Concha and climb Monte Igueldo to enjoy the spectacular view over the coastline. You learn how to ask questions, give descriptions, and have conversations in realistic situations, while actively experiencing the language in the context of culture, gastronomy, nature, and history. This way, you build vocabulary and confidence, not in a classroom, but in Spain.

During the evening program we delve deeper into important grammatical themes, which we immediately apply in conversations and exercises. We use everything you have experienced during the day in the morning part, connecting practice with theory and growing your Spanish in a natural way.
